What do you think about this comment about my dog?
I discussed with my Doctor about surgery on my neck. I asked about lifting. I explained I have a small dog that is paralyzed. He immediately told me “The best thing you can do is to put it to sleep.” I looked at him and said “Your telling me to kill my dog?” He said “It would be putting her to sleep.” I told him I would not kill “Muffy.” I knew what putting them to sleep was. I have a rescue for dogs.
the appointment for the surgery was canceled.
surgery was scheduled for a Monday and I told him it was a bad day for me. My husband had a Doctors appointment that day. I'm thinking no to the surgery. I can't get over him telling me to kill my dog. No matter what words you use it still means the same thing.
down, put to sleep, euthanasia, it all means the same thing.

reason I didn't put her down is because she is a live being that had a lot of life left to live.
is a cocapoo and weighs about 11 pounds.
being paralyzed don't mean you have to die, especially when you have someone willing to take care of you and love you.
is not suffering and she just can't walk on four legs. If only you could look into her eyes. I am sure there will be a time but it is not now. I only asked the Doctor about lifting when I had the surgery. He didn't know anything about her except I needed to lift her because she couldn't use her back legs and that was the next thing that came out of his mouth.
Vermin, does your ID name mean you kill dogs? You can't read because no Vet said put her down. It is evident you are not an animal lover.
Since Muffy has been paralyzed for 12 years, she must be happy since you havent put her down. I have met several paralyzed dogs and they are perfectly happy.
people just dont understand that it is REALLY hard to put animals to sleep, either because they dont have animals or they havent had to put any to sleep.
doesnt seem to be suffering so I say let her live the rest of her life out. I also am involved with an animal rescue in Jackson, WY, and I know how hard it is to see those animals go.
I, personally, havent put down any animals, but even seeing some animals get adopted is really hard, so I can somewhat imagine. As for the doctor, he has really no right to tell you that you need to put your dog to sleep! If he is good, I would get the surgery done by him, but if you feel like you cant face him again, find a different doctor.
is a very sensitive subject that nobody but people who you are closest to should touch.
